INDIGO

Having been founded in 2006, IndiGo has a current market share of about 53% and is expanding at the rate of roughly one new aircraft a week with several new international destinations added every month.

Due to this, there's an ever increasing demand for pilots at IndiGo. To cater to this need, IndiGo introduced their Cadet Pilot Programme (CPP) in 2011. Today, there are 6 Flight Training Organisations (FTOs) one can opt for to join the IndiGo CPP.

WHAT IS AN FTO?

A Flight Training Organisation (FTO) can be understood as a service provider. They have been handpicked by IndiGo and have been given the responsibility for training the selected Cadet all the way from the CPL level up to the Airbus A320 Type Rating level, so they can finally be inducted into the Airline by IndiGo.

Currently, IndiGo works with 6 different FTOs; CAE, L3 Harris, Skyborne, FTA, Insight Aviation and FlightRule (NZICPA).

In the first stage of testing, each FTO has a different test, but assess the same qualities that one requires to be a full fledged pilot. The next 2 stages namely the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) are conducted by IndiGo only, no matter what the FTO is.

Each FTO has a different training location spread across USA, India, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand. Each FTO also has a difference in cost. To learn more about each FTO, we encourage you to visit the official websites for each FTO.
